Complete windows restore

I am thinking of reloading my entire computer from scratch to fix a few issues. If I delete and wipe the hard drive and then reload windows 8.1 will all my files be waiting for me in SkyDrive once I sign in? Or once I wipe them on my hard drive, will they also disappear from my SkyDrive? I don't want to lose any of my pictures.

You shouldn't lose anything that is stored in SkyDrive. Your files in SkyDrive are accessible on any computer if you sign in to your Microsoft Account using a browser.

Hoping this doesn't need to be said but saying it anyways. Make sure you backup any personal files stored on the local machine. Unlike WP's things do not automatically transfer up to SkyDrive unless you have the synchronization enabled.

Also, when you reload the machine. create a second partition specifically for personal files. Keep main partition for OS and applications only.
