I had this problem several times, for me just restarting the Phone did the trick.

I have Windows 8.1 and a Huawei Ascend W1

Well, I got excited 'cuz it seemed like I'd finally found a clue to my problem...

But when I go to "Music+Videos" as you suggest, I CANNOT find any way to access "Settings" as you mention, so I can't try this "turn Cloud off" trick you suggest...

I used this phone to take pics, dumped them onto PC just a few days ago, no problems... now when I plug it into PC, the icon on the phone says it mistakenly thinks it's on a charger; and there's nothing on My Computer that recognizes it is plugged into PC...

The only thing that's changed is, one of my recent photos (that I can't d/l to PC!) has somehow appeared as my "wallpaper", even though I did nothing intentionally to cause this...???

I'm having this problem recently with all my devices, new droid phone, I tried to update my GPS, then tried to look at my old wp7, it doesn't recognize them but charges them. must be either some setting in Windows that is doing this or something that controls all the USB's is fried or something idk? I wonder how it can charge them but not see them in the Explorer or Zune in the WP 7 case. I hope to find an answer for this before I restoring my entire computer and hope that works oh and by the way use my daughters notebook to rearrange files on my android

It's possible you may have a virus/infection or a corrupt OS. If its Windows 8, I would suggest a refresh.

If the Zune software still doesn't recognize your phone, the "Microsoft Fix It" wizard may be able to resolve the issue. Open Microsoft Fix It, click Run, and then follow the steps.

worked for me too - thanks for suggesting the simple and obvious solution - "if in doubt hit the big red switch" or " have you turned it off and then on again?"

It seems similar to what happened with my Titan I, but seriously, already I just synced it last week and now all of a sudden I plug it into my computer and the normal box to explore the phone box does not appear nor when I go to "My Computer". It makes the noise that it's charging when I plug it in, but does not show up on computer. Is it a bad USB, bad cord, need a replacement device or what is the issue? Not even Zune see's the phone as well. On my Titan I, they said it was because the USB stint in the phone got bent and was causing a bad connection.

So I tried for 3 bloody hours to fix this and I finally got it. Gah. Anyway, here's how I did it. go to Control Panel click on View devices and printers click on your Windows Phone it may have an exclamation mark on it, mine did. Right-click on your Windows Phone and a menu should pop up. At the bottom should be Properties. Click on it, select the Hardware tab, then on the little menu that shows up with 3 or 4 options, left click the Windows Phone on there, and click on the button that says Properties at the bottom of the menu. On the new menu that pops up, click on the Drivers tab. Once you're there, select Roll back driver. Then accept the change, and try plugging in your device after you restart the PC. This worked for me, hopefully it does for you as well. Cheers!
