This is old news. but the existing x50 handsets will still see support. The withdrawal was intentional and a necessary step to help entice 3rd party OEMs back to the platform...

Not quite, the withdrawal was an intentional step to axe the smartphone hardware business, or at least the Lumia business under the guise of enticing OEM's which aren't interested. There's always the odd experiment but they've never lasted long. Did they kill the Surface lineup to entice OEM's? Well...

It's like how the "retrenching" was cast as not-pulling-out-of-the-market. There's also a reason Lumia's were as successful as they were.

Hi
I have both of them (Priv and 950XL), so I might help a bit.
The answer is the Priv and the reason is simple : stability and battery life.
Even if I really love the Lumia and the OS , I really do , for now it's still too unstable and battery life is simply terrible.
I'm not a fun of android but I needed a productivity tool , that's why I've choosen the Priv (also for the security matter) . It is stable (now , after few updates) and battery is pretty good and constant. The Blackberry apps are really great and useful , a big plus.
There is one thing where the 950XL win hands down is the camera , no comparison. In fact it is still my camera phone.
But my daily driver is the Priv , can't go around with a phone that last half day (not always but often) and reboot itself once in a while.
It's obviously only my opinion and based on my personal experience , doesn't want to be a verdict.

I remember the 20 odd OEMs that Jason listed, W10M is much better off without them, I do not know the interest in the coship and Moly phones in US, but in ROW where WP was strong once, I dont see such OEM's getting consumer interest.

Yep... We need a perception shift.

Everyone is either saying "Bring back Lumia" or "I'll wait for Surface."

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.
