Since this is the Off-Topic Lounge I'm taking the liberty to give a special shout-out to Ichiro Suzuki for joining 3000 hit club. The fact he plays for my Miami Marlins is just icing on the cake. I've been following him since he broke into the league in '01 and it was hard to keep up because of the fact he was on the West Coast and I'm in the East. Miami is also a National League team and the only AL news here is about the Yankees and Red Sox.
The hit itself (a triple) was a deep shot to right field in Coors Field (Colorado) and just barely missed being the 4th home run in MLB history as the 3000th hit. In true Ichiro fashion, I was expecting the milestone to be a bunt single. To my other favorite right fielder, Roberto Clemente, move over #21, you have esteemed company.
