Now maybe im being silly or blind.. is there anyway to view your contacts details with out ringing them first.... i went to edit my dads contact details and couldnt figure out how to do this with out first calling him then go into the call list then edit that way..

if you go to contacts and tap on contact you want to edit you'll see some basic details - to edit it just tap pencil in a circle on the right hand side at the bottom of the screen

Peoples hub? Tap the contact's name? Tap the little pencil button? Lol. You were probably going to the peoples hub via the "phone" app. In WP8.1, accessing the peoples hub from the phone app only lets you call your contacts.

Via the Peoples (Hub) App, tap on the name. Details of the person show up after that.

If you want to edit their details, click on the pencil icon at the bottom.
