Continuum with USB-C

Quick question, do any of you know why Continuum does not work with just a USB Type-C cable? Why does it need a dock? (For a wired connection).

A direct connection isn't very optimal as you won't have any USB ports and the phone won't be charging. But yes, it is possible.

Wireless charging, yesterday I had 2 Bluetooth devices connected to use continuum, thinking a cable might eliminate hd10 half second lag ?
