Cortana & foursquare

Will we need a foursquare account to make use of cortanas reported link to foursquare or does she use info from it independently. Moreover would it be advisable to start using this service (foursquare) to improve on cortana's suggestions? Just wondering if anyone has any insight into this?

I would imagine it would help to start using foursquare, since more information fed into Cortana would make her smarter. But I certainly don't believe that it would be a need in any case.
