"can you find me details for Saxon Primary School" should DEFINITELY NOT come back as "I can't find details for sex in primary school, do you want me to search the web for that".......yeah, why not Cortana, cause I really want to spend a few hours getting to know what the inside of my local police station looks like....

And while we're on the matter of understanding local dialect......I'm looking for Louis office.....not Louise office, which you'll never find, primarily because I don't know anyone called Louise, although my wife now refuses to believe me....thanks for that too

Damn!!!

Aww man sorry , that conversation is hilarious :p
Umm what should I say she is still in beta and Microsoft is trying hard to improve her further with updates.

Note to self. DO NOT ask Cortana any questions that could be easily misinterpreted, especially ones involving educational institutes.

LOL! This one really made my day. :D

Seriously though, Cortana is still in beta and not officially launched outside of the US yet as far as I know. I believe once it's launched in the UK, she'll be able to properly understand you guys. :)
That being said, I'm having a hard time getting her to understand my German flavored English too. ;)

Lolololol :-)))) Brilliant. I'm Scottish but in fairness Cortana does a pretty decent job of understanding me.....sometimes. I'd love to see how the geniuses at MS are going to crack the Gaelic accent. You think Scottish is bad, wait until the first Welshman asks Cortana for directions to Llanfairpwllgwyngyll

I wish to test the Cork accent on Cortana =\ Hope it will not require an additional region setting :)

Finally we know why Microsoft released it US only...

Or goes the whole hog and tries Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch...

This will be one of the key challenges in rolling out Cortana world-wide, not just in English, but in every other language, as regional dialects can be quite thorny. In a narrow strip of eastern Wisconsin (but nowhere else), a water fountain is called a "bubbler." If Cortana ever gets that right, I will be amazed.

Even more thorny are the local nicknames for places that do not show up in any map.

I guess it's mostly about voice recognition, not some lack of vocabulary, since I think it's the less difficult part in Cortana.

lol, the other day my wife needed an ethernet cable, and I knew where one was at home, but I was at school when she asked me about it. So I said "when I get home, remind me to find an ethernet cord," and Cortana said "Ok, when you get home, I'll remind you to buy internet porn."

That just about made me spit my coffee on my keyboard! LOL
