Seriously though, Cortana is still in beta and not officially launched outside of the US yet as far as I know. I believe once it's launched in the UK, she'll be able to properly understand you guys.
That being said, I'm having a hard time getting her to understand my German flavored English too.

I guess it's mostly about voice recognition, not some lack of vocabulary, since I think it's the less difficult part in Cortana.
