Cortana US only!

According to [FONT=Segoe, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]MSFTNerd MS will bring cortana US only and extend this 2015-2016 to other english speaking countries. So rest of the world gets it 2017+. If this is true, this was my last WP. Not because I want cortana that much, but because this shows how MS sees rest of the world. They have 10% in europe and ignore them. And they bring cortana first to the country where they cant reach 5% market share. I mean, it's ok to bring it first to your own country, but the other should follow 1-2 months later. Not 3 years later!!

1. First, this is not going to make a lot of people happy, if true.
2. If true, and I'm guessing there's a good chance it is, it doesn't say a word about how MS sees the rest of the world. It does say something about how much work goes into making something like this, and making it in more than one language at a time wouldn't be possible. Have you ever seen how inaccurate Google Translate can be? Is that how well you would want this to work for you if English wasn't your language? And if English is your language, keep in mind all of the differences between America and other countries, even those who speak English. Just because a company starts out with their own country doesn't mean they look at the rest of the world in a dimmer light.

There's still no finnish language for whatever the "hold home button for a few seconds" is called, so I'm not surprised by this at all. But at least they could bring it in english to all countries..

I think I read about this somewhere before and it's true AFAIK, US release first with other countries to follow.

There's already another thread on this, but just in case:
1. We don't know who MSFTNerd is or how accurate his reporting is.
2. It was WMPowerUser that wrote "Cortana will be available in additional English-speaking countries only in 2015-2016 time period."
3. MSFTNerd wrote that in 2015 the service would expand from Windows Phone to the Bing app for iOS, then to American Xbox One users, and then to American users of Windows (regular, not RT or Phone).
4. MSFTNerd also wrote that the service for Xbox One and regular Windows would expand to other English-speaking countries in 2015 and 2016.

You are the only person to mention 2017. None of us know if MSFTNerd is right about the platforms to get Cortana or the schedule for release. We don't know if what he wrote is supposed to be a complete release schedule. Making purchasing decisions on "facts" so tenuously tied to reality is silly.

I's OK to speculate on what's coming. But screaming about it doesn't help you and publishing your screams here after misreading something and layering on your own unfounded assertions does a disservice to this community. Be more responsible.
