I have followed directions with sticky pieces of paper but it didn't help. will a back cover replacement help better? Can someone recommend a couple replacements?

Thanks

As far as I know the only option currently is coming from mozo: Mozo Accessories | Lumia phone cases online shop

I read that it makes the creaking sound muss less noticeable but cannot not fully avoid it. Preordered a mozo cover for my 950 XL. Cannot live with the ridiculous noise my stock cover does on normal use. Will try the sticker trick today.

I bought a Caseformers case with a kickstand for 7 bucks. Is very thin and adds almost no bulk. Creaks are gone. I like it.

Yep! mine creaked but I padded it out with black plastic insulation tape inside
It is now a lot better but...IMO it is the heat warps the case

And in my case (no pun) the DT100 wireless charger heats up my phone too much

Bad design of covers IMO but like every thing else I put up with it
Even the little copper pins rattle in mine when I tap the screen :?)

Oh well I give up caring now

mine creaks too...on the bottom two corners, not the top two. I took it into the MSFT store in Bellevue and the3 Asst Mgr asked one of her compadres to get another XL and they swapped back covers top see if the cover were the problem, not the body. Alas, it was NOT the cover. She offered to swap phones but had none at the time to do it with. I will return when they have phones to cover returns. I do have a Mozo on order, may wait to see if the thicker stiffer back cover solves the problem. If not may go thru the tape or drop of glue trick.

Just bend it back diametrically opposite to the way you took it off before re-snapping it back. It's ok then.

Alternatively, once it heats up (presumably the liquid used to cool it is lava) it will become pliable and settle down again.

Interesting :) Even if I heat up my phone to the maximum it still creaks. Will be getting my replacement 950 XL tmr (SD card reader defective) and hope for a better situation with the cover too.

Just jesting of course, but the back is incredibly flimsy once removed so it's no surprise there is some flex in it. Comparing it to my last removable back cover on the 820, it's ultra-bendy; completely different plastic composite. The only true way to stop the creak will be a new back which I'll do when Mozo release something other than leather.

I just took some scotch tape to the inside bottoms of the plate until it stopped creaking. Problem solved.

I put an Incipio case on mine and the squeaks went away. The back on my phone didn't wiggle or make any noise when I got it, but after installing the SIM and replacing the back, it did. Heat may play a role, but I really think it's just a matter of slight case distortion after flexing it to get it off the phone.

I think how the cover is taken off is important too. What I find works the best is pull the initial tab out lightly and then slide your finger nail in between the cover and phone all around it, you will hear the hinges coming off. This keeps the plastic from being bent trying to force it open.

I do have a slight creak in my lower corner but initially i was pulling it hard to open it up. Exactly in that area too. Then i decided to do the nail thing.

Polycarbonate is actually designed to bend instead of break if there's heavy force put on it.

Good point! Will try this tmr with the new phone. Makes total sense.
