Data Usage | AT&T | Shared Plan

Ok, so I'm getting close to my limit on data, this month. (6gb) And there are 3 people on the plan. Me, obviously, and my parents. (Neither of which use much data at all)
In the My AT&T app, you can see the data usage and there's also options to turn off the shared data for the other numbers. I did that and I was just wondering;
does that turn off just the shared data for them? Or like their whole cell data. I'm confused

I'm not sure, since I still have an old AT&T grandfathered unlimited plan. Hopefully other people will know.
