After upgrading to WP 8.1 on my Lumia 520, not able to open the standalone Video or Game apps listed in Apps list, even pinned live tiles of Video and game is showing in light green rather than solid green as Music tile shows. When i press the video or game from the app list nothing happens, whereas I can open standalone Music app. If i go to Storage sense and click on Phone>video>Manage it gives the pop-up saying Search for app in store? you need to install this app for this task but if i hit yes it lands into video app from microsoft in store but in store it shows already installed. may be its because you have to update them.. see if there is an option for that.. mine had a lot of updates for apps after updating to 8.1.. hope this helps

HTC 8x with wp8.1 its a bit laggy and the battery drain is crazy. From 100 to 44% overnight not being used.

So after a full day, finally an instagram notifcation came through..only one though, but nothing on facebook yet. So the best way to do is post something and have people like it or have them comment it and hopefully it can trigger.

I've noticed a few:

Photos: does not have a background

Music: live tile not working

Messaging: no option for online thread messages

I have the calendar set to update my lock screen and it isn't updating. It will update if I go into the lock screen settings but otherwise it does not show the next upcoming meeting.

My battery life is also suffering but I'm not sure if it's due to 8.1 specifically or other things I've done since installing 8.1. I lost about 40% of my battery overnight when normally I lose maybe 10-15%. Haven't tried rebooting the phone yet, that always seemed to work on my 8X when I was having battery issues.

I'm running windows phone 8.1 developer preview. When I first installed the OS all my apps were working just fine, but over the past 10 hours or so I stopped getting notification for viber and whatsapp. So far I have reset the phone, uninstalled the apps and back on again, but no luck.

If I remember correctly whatsapp was on my action centre list when you go to settings and look at the apps which can notify you, but their no longer there. I could be wrong and perhaps they were never there.

I'm curious is this because whatsapp and viber haven't been updated to meet the latest API to work perfectly with windows phone 8.1 or is it a bug? Or perhaps I can enable them on settings or something? And yes I have gone into the apps to look at their settings also.

Suggestions and tips would be much appreciated.

You are going to have to wait for HTC to update the app. This is the dev preview after all, there are other apps which also do not work quite correctly with the update.

Biggest issue on HTC 8X is the HTC app itself no longer displays the clock or updates the weather on its Live tile. This was HTC's only redeeming feature over Nokia Lumias and now it's broken. If you set the HTC app as the lockscreen, it also never updates and just displays the stock HTC photo. The app, once inside, essentially still works, including the localised weather updates. But for me it's now useless, so I've uninstalled it.

My 8X is a UK version so Cortana did not arrive. I have tried changing my language and region to US (which causes an additional download and reboot) and moved the US language up to default to no avail. I also performed a full reset to factory settings, removed the SIM and set the phone up from scratch and still I couldn't get Cortana to make an appearance. So no Quiet Hours for me either (why is that not separate? Reminds me of the Datasense app data usage saga). Luckily a restore was successful but there are still some things that annoyingly, do not get backed up.

If you open the app via App Tile/App List, all notification from that app will disappeared.
If you open from the Notification Center, it will only clear one of the notification (toast).

That's because app developer didn't update their app to control the notification

I am experiencing just the opposite. If I open the app via live tile, the notification in the action center remains but if I open it directly from the action center the live tile notification is cleared as well.

Isn't Cortana supposed to call out your name and then say"Alrighty what's next?" or something instead of just showing it on the screen? I have never heard her call out my name although the setting is enabled.

can any one tell me how to be on offline mode on Facebook app. well i can't find any where in WP 8.1
unlike WP8 where it had online, invisible, offline options

Yes it is not calling my name also only shows it in the screen.:thumbdown:

xbox games section is down i think. you can select and play your games from app list

Not sure if it is a bug or not but this morning (after installing 8.1 yesterday) the headphone jack was not working. The phone was not recognizing it when headphones were connected. For grins and giggles I did a reset and it worked.

My Samsung ATIV S has still the reboot loop , I thought I had solved the problem but no... :-(
Just after a hard reset everything seems to work right but once you leave the Wifi environment of your home and on G3 then the reboot problem starts , I get also an DNS server problem in IE , I am using my old 7.8WP now and hope Microsoft will release a bug fix soon .

try turning off cortana running in the background. go to settings>applications>cortana>battery saver>background off/on.
also cortana uses location.. so it will drain the battery quickly..
