Device sync isn't happening

Total newbie here. Basic functionality question.

I've been through 3 versions of the Surface (RT, 3, and then Pro4). I love it. It's the kind of device I've always wanted. I came back to Windows from Mac for the Surface. I killed my iPhone and went to Android for the Surface. And I finally got seduced by Windows Mobile, after a 10 year hiatus.

Lumia 950, ATT branded, unlocked, bought on fire sale. I love it. I love the weight, the feel, the interface, THAT CAMERA, just about all of it.

And it doesn't talk to my SP4. SMS notifications don't show up. Battery notifications don't show up. Photos taken don't sync with OneDrive. My android phone did all of those things, post AU. Is this a problem with my phone, or just the current state-of-things before the Mobile AU? I'm running the latest official release, but not an insider build. All settings on both devices, including Cortana settings, are toggled to sync. No syncing is happing. Lumia doesn't show up in my Cortana devices. Do I wait? Do I install the insider build? Do I give up and go back to Android?

I think some of that is related to anniversary update and some are not available. Photo upload to onedrive should work Make sure it is on in settings for onedrive and for photos app

That answers your question. the device sync feature requires AU on the phone as well, which hasn't been pushed beyond the insider builds yet. Au is "supposed" to be pushed I guess this week no non-branded devices and a week later to branded devices (based on what was initially said last week before it was slightly delayed)

Slow ring or release preview insiders "should" already be on AU and it's running rock solid (for me at least) and is the same build as what should be coming out. I assume the fast ring will be testing on RS2 really soon since it's already been pushed to desktops, so you may want to avoid the fast ring unless you want the bleeding edge versions... which sould be buggy.....
