I agree. 36 months of support doesn't mean squat if the carriers won't roll out updates.
Come on, no one these days has their phone for 3 years!

Well it looks like at this rate iOS 7 will land on AT&T before this month old update will...
True, but I'd like 2 years. They probably made it 36 months to make it sound better to everyone.
Good pointNot everyone buys their phone on day 1 so it shows support for it's most likely life. In other words those looking for a deal may buy a 1 year old phone new and have a 2 year contract making it 3 years from the launch date before they replace it.

I find the story pretty hard to believe. I don't really see how AT&T could possibly have a mechanism for sending this one guy the update. Could it be that they swapped the device for one running GDR2? But then, I thought all Lumia 925s came with the update out of the box. I also am skeptical that AT&T would care about subscriber retention at all.

There is not a significant free feature that I know of on Windows Phones that is exclusive to AT&T. They do have the AT&T storage Locker.
Data Sense lets you set a data limit and can restrict background date when it is approached. It can give the cellular and WiFi data usage for the last 30 days and the cellular and Wifi Data usage per app and phone tasks like app downloads, store, people, mail, internet explorer and streming media. You can also map nearby WiFi. It is very useful. AT&T says it takes software infastructure support from the carrier. Are your sure about that? It works on my 521 when I use my AT&T sim.
Sprint has NASCAR Mobile ?13 with premium content for race driver radio and Verizon has NFL Mobile with premium content for streaming games. From AT&T ____ ?
Timely updates from AT&T would be nice, along with Data Sense.
