Different/custom theme colors?

Is there a way to create my own phone accent color the stock colors are kinda lame .. I looked on YouTube and it seems the only thing I could find is you have to root your phone which is crazy .. Why can't I just pick my own color .. Am I missing something ?

There is not. The only way this has ever been possible was with custom rome for 7.x

Hopefully. With this next update they will consider adding this .. It should be really easy to add
