Do all my apps, data, settings etc carry over?

Hi folks. I"m wondering if I do the upgrad on my fully setup WP8.1 Lumia 830, will the whole phone be upgraded the way it is or will it only bring some things over or complete wipe? Thanks.

Everything will copy over the way it is

All OTA updates retains the complete phone data and settings. Data is only lost when u hard reset or flash ur phone

So where will updates come from if I upgrade? Will this prevent me from getting carrier updates in the future? Thanks.

Currently once you change your start background, you will loose the parallax effect as that needs to be re-added to Windows 10 for phones. You will get a background with translucent tiles. In terms of data and applications, like others have said you will retain those however some apps may not work properly.

All other updates will come via the Windows Insider app providing your always enrolled.

However bear in mind this not like the developer preview were the builds were more less RTM (finished builds). The technical preview is really in the alpha stage of development therefore you will find bugs that will impact day to day use.

I would suggest getting a cheap 630 and using that, not your daily driver.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably hold off on putting this on my 830. I do have a 635 that I did put Windows 10 on but haven't really had a chance to experiment with all that much yet. Thanks again.
