Do you mean that I downloaded windows 10 last night and all of my files word, etc. were erased??????

check in drive C, windows.old folder - your data should be there

Always be sure the "keep all my stuff" option is selected when upgrading. Read carefully, when you push the button it does exactly what it says it will do on the screen.
