Do you regret taking your screen protector off?

Hi all. I'm getting sick of my screen protector. Dust gets under the edges easily, it has scratched easily, and it picks up oils easily. Overall, it just looks ugly. When I was cleaning it the other day, I used my phone for the first time without one and I was shocked at the difference in quality of the screen (obviously). It just felt so much better to use without, but looking at how my screen doesn't even have the slightest blemish on it, it's hard to keep it off.

If you took it off, do you regret it (i.e. phone got tons of scratches)?
Thanks.

I had one on my previous 800, but took it down anyway (missed the smooth glass) :) never bought one for 920 I have now and have sent it sliding on the floor twice display down. Kinda regret, but the two long scratches I have demostrate how durable the screen is and are not too bad, so what the heck.. :) I like my Lumia naked all the way ;)

I put one on my wife's 8X because she throws it in her purse. The first one was a wet one and it was ok, but after a while, it came loose on the corner, but that was without a case. A case would help protect the corners, but she didn't like it because it got "dented" and didn't look that smooth after a while. I put a stick-on protector and it stays smooth, but of course, with the curved screen, it doesn't stick tight to the edges. She still uses it, but I wouldn't. On my 8X, I haven't used a protector and screen is perfect. I had a Bodyglove case on for a while, mainly to protect the screen if I dropped it. Now, I took the case off and use it bare. I don't put it in pockets with anything else.

No protection for me for 4 months. I pocket my phone, and the screen is flawless.

I've never used a case on any phone (what's the point in paying for nice industrial design if you are going to cover it with an ugly $10 piece of plastic?) and have not used a screen cover since scratch resistant class became popular. I purchased my phone at launch, use it on construction jobsites and pocket it in my work pants or vest, and have had zero scratches or issues.

screen protectors look bad and i hate the poor tactile feel, the glass is so much smoother and nice feeling

My one year old 800 never saw a protector and the screen is still superb. Only a few microscratches in one corner after few encounters with the asphalt...

My 4 month old 920 is flawless, even the camera bezel is still good.

I have used screen protectors on all of my phones. I have a wonderful one that feels exactly like the glass. I don't remember the brand, but will look for it. I clean my screen with the protector on with plain alcohol. Its so clear you can't tell its on. Its actually the best one I've owned.

I forgot to mention why: I don't like scratches on my screen. If I happen to scratch the protector, I just replace it with a fresh one. Also, I buy my phones off contract, and if I decide to exchange it or upgrade later on, it will still be in new condition- scratch free!

What phone do you have? I spent a lot of money for one on my 920 but I was let down because of the curved glass meaning the screen protector wouldn't fit the whole screen. Now my phone has scratches which makes me loose love for my phone :(

Had the Lumia 710 and I agreed that putting screen protector is just that bad. It decreases the image quality and of course, those dusts on the edge of the screen protector as you said.
Removed it and after 4 months without screen protector, not a single scratch. Honestly, impressed with Corning Gorilla Glass.

Now, having fun with Lumia 620. At the first week, I used the screen protector, knowing it doesn't have Corning Gorilla glass. But, since I hate screen protector so much (Even worse, screen protectors here are low quality and it's hard to find a good one), I decided to remove it.

2 weeks on, voila, a scratch.
Now, 3 months later (From January, 28th) hundreds of hairline scratches.. Regret it, of course but I have no choice. :(

appearance wise I regret getting the 8X all together. At first the device shines and looks amazing. The nasty look of the blue soft coating after a bit of use and the very scratch prone screen killed HTC for me. Then again Nokia didn't have a device with bell mobility soo options were 8X or a different OS.

love the speed of the camera, beats audio, shape and size of the device

An 8X, hence why I posted in the 8X forum .

I hate screen protectors. They always look awful. I'm very careful and have a padded case for my handbag so no tossing it in unprotected! yikes! I'd rather treat my phone gently than cover up the gorgeous look of the screen.

Those are some expensive screen protectors. $15-25 for a piece of plastic, no thanks.

EDIT: Looking at them, I think that's what the guy at the store put on for me for free.

I like the phone "naked" - great design and a pleasure to hold, but I didn't want a screen protector because I like the smooth feeling of the glass. So I had to sacrifice the "nakedness" and instead chose a case.

I use a Nokia CP-572 hard case with my Lumia 800. Not to sound like a commercial, but that cover is superb. Great feel because it's leather, it's not floppy - it's a hard case, and it allows me to be carefree with my phone. I just throw it in my backpack, or at the table. Not worried at all if I drop the phone by accident. Such a relief not to worry about the phone getting scratched at all. The flap has a small bend which rests on my fingers when I'm holding the phone to my ear. It means I don't get fatigue in my hand/fingers or a sweaty palm from cramming the phone during a long conversation.

My post may not qualify in this thread, as I have not had a screen protector from start. Just thought I'd share this anyway, as I did consider a screen protector :amaze:

I honestly have one screen protector that I got from ebay (dirt cheap) and I hate it a lot. But I have dropped it a few times and it protects it quite well. I say it's always good to be safe, even tho it looks and feels ugly to me. If I really wanted to feel good about it though I'd probably get a more expensive one (the ones you apply with alcohol for adhesiveness). But that's just me. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
