Docking station with external monitor

Hello,

I have my Surface Pro 3 i7 connected to an external monitor via the docking station. I have an annoying problem and I am curious to see if others have it as well or is there a setting I need to tweak.

Whenever I open various apps (via my external monitor), the apps loads on the Surface Pro 3 screen. I would have to drag the open apps window across and onto my external monitor (and then maximize the screen). Example would be an app like Firefox will open on the external monitor (if launched on the external monitor). Windows Edge will always open on the Surface Pro 3 screen even while launched via the external monitor.

Anyway to fix this?
