For the another parts I do agree, but this:

I honestly dont see too much harm in this as the users of their smartphones already make fun of our small numbers.

I did not mean the users of another platforms. We are living the times when tweets go viral.
I would choose not to try my luck with this, but I am not the one who needs to make the decision.
I just hope the numbers are high enough if they decide to make them public.
