Long time Zune user like most of us. However, this month I decided to give XBOX Music a chance. I downloaded the new Pharrell Williams album using XBOX Music app in Windows 8.1. I then went over to Windows Media Player to give it a spin (I play most of my music through WMP because it has more information about each track). The song would not play. Here's what I got instead:
There's a problem with the usage rights for the item you're trying to play. To refresh your usage rights:
1. Start the music application (Windows 8 only)
2. Sign In
3. Play the item in the Music Application
Now you're ready to try playing the item using Windows Media Player.
So I did what it told me to do. But the songs would still not play in WMP. I got on Chat with Microsoft support, and they told me that WMP will not play the Music app downloads. I told them that the WMP told me I could. He said he didn't understand why those instructions were there. I told him I would go back to downloading music with Zune. I tell you, if Zune ever gets shut down, I don't know what I'm going to do.
Anyone have this experience and it turn out differently?
