downloading .apk files on wp phones?

Hey guys just wanted to know if there is a way to download a .apk file or any non .xap files on my Nokia lumia 710? I'm pretty sure it's not possible but just wanted to be sure, any help is appreciated

bump...trying to do the same on my lumia 822. found a good site for .apk's Windows Phone Download Center and just trying to get snapchat on my phone lol

.apk (Android Application Package files) are for Android phones only. If you want to install .xap files (for WP), you have to unlock your phone to at least developer level.
