during call the screen goes to history

Hi
During a call, if I move the phone away from my head, or when I am going to end the call, it isn't in the 'call screen' with the person's photo...it changes to the history screen and the status bar is at the top showing that the call is on, so to end a call I have to tap the status bar and then end the call. Why does it change to the history screen? I think this is a bit annoying. Any way to prevent this behaviour?
