Easy way to mute "Ringtone&Notifications" ?

During the night, I always mute the phone.
Before the update to 8.1 I would just press the vol+/- button and click the "bell" icon to mute the phone.

Now, when I press the vol+/- button I first have to open the menu, to then press the "bell" icon, which seems to be much smaller than before the update, and is now on the left side instead of the right where it was before - it has become harder to touch, especially with the right thumb.
This is not nice to do every night and every morning. :-/

I then checked if there is a option for the notification center to put the volume control there (like the ones for WIFI, Bluetooth, etc.) to change between ON/Vibrate/OFF (like on other phones).
But seems that there isn't.

Did I not find the right feature/way to do this easiely? Or has it really become less easy to mute the phone?

Note: European here - no Cortana - no quite hours setting.

While I agree that it's a few steps to mute now, what people seem to forget is that in 8.0, the little bell icon ONLY muted/un-muted the ringer. There was no control for the system volume. If you wanted to mute that, you had to lower the volume all the way to 0. Now you have much more fine grained control, but more steps. Now you can have apps always muted, or always on, or ringer muted or always on, or some combination of the two. Plus, you could always change your region to US to try out Cortana and see if that works for you. I think having another toggle switch next to the vibrate option to mute all would be nice, but I can live with it.

Ringtone&Notifications sounds. And thats all I want/need to mute. :)

I did that yesterday, yet the store stopped working then. I have to check again today because the store was offline yesterday in europe entirely. So not sure if the region change caused it for me or if it was a coincidence. :S

Yes, that and a option for the notification center would be best imo.
