So I got the ad-free version, but I can't login... Do I need a special account because my real YouTube/google account can't login there, it just says it failed..

No it's just your normal YouTube account details JJusmo.

(You should download the adfree full version, it's free until Oct 15th)

I login using my username not my email address if that makes any difference.

You just need your regular Youtube account. Sometime, Youtube service may not be available (even on the web) so can you try sometime later.
