Edge and virtual keyboard in tablet mode

After all these years of Edge development, why, in tablet mode, doesn't the virtual keyboard automatically close after entering a new URL and loading the new page? It's driving me nuts that I have to manually close the virtual keyboard every time. Other platforms (not just iOS) manage to do this.

Probably a misguided "build-it-and-they-will-come" strategy that prioritized the wrong things. Instead of your example, or other basics such as adding "Back/Forward" to the right-click context menu or simply better recovery when the browser crashes, MS committed to cool things such as the notes/inking feature, which I'm guessing very few people use. They tried to differentiate Edge with slick functionality at the expense of basic functionality that many people use.
