Email Notification Issue

I bought a new Samsung Focus less than 24 hours ago and this I'm finding annoying. My mail tiles do not update to show the number of unread messages. This is compounded by the fact that most of the messages don't display as unread regardless of whether I've read anything or not. But even in cases where messages show up as unread, the tile does not update. This occurs for Gmail, Hotmail and my ISP. While I had this same issue with Gmail in WinMo 6.5, I really wouldn't expect it in Hotmail.

Has anyone else seen this? Any ideas/fixes? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't get the number of unread emails but the number of new emails since last time I checked it. This is the way it is designed. Also not having problems with it marking them as read.
