It wouldn't let me reset the phone, so I took the opportunity to install the French Amber ROM,

It's all working fine now. I'm assuming that the problem occurred because of an incorrect password, I don't think it's anything that you've done, just the gf messing about with it I think

That's good .

I imagine that the hard reset lock is to stop people resetting a company phone to factory defaults and getting a free stolen phone. I don't think there is any way around it. Obviously if you were joined to a company exchange network the admin could remotely wipe your phone. I can't do it because my exchange server deletes all added phones at the end of the day.

I'm going to wait for the OTA update i think . Hopefully it's not too far away!
