Engadget and others to preview Apollo on 6/20

Yeah they Spoked about this in the last PODCASt here at WPcentral last week :)

:D:D is the SAME event as last year when MS announced MANGO! so the trend should continue!!!:D:D

4-5months from the Update baby!!! ( if the trend continues )

No idea why MS keeps inviting these apple blogs to their events, should just give them a link to the live stream. :P

The thing is Engadget isn't the only blog biased against everything MS vs. the magical Apple. There's SO much negativity involved in articles and comment sections written about new MS products. I just don't get it. Have these people spent some time with the platform and devices?

I wouldn't say that any of these blogs are biased against WP, per se. I think they are geared to write articles, and especially titles, that will generate clicks. Controversy generates interest, and getting people to click pages generates ad revenue.

I would agree that the vast majority of tech blogs are unbiased, but if you look over certain ones like Engadget just as an example. If its not made by Apple, its junk. Which in and of itself would not be so much of a problem, but how can you trust any information coming from such a biased view point. Regardless I am excited by the announcement and hope its everything we wish it is.

Apollo beta to be released and leaked on 6/29 just like last year

I hope not, the early release/leak of Mango ended up hurting Windows Phone in reviews. I say this because many reviewers used Mango since it was leaked, and when it was finally released to the general public, it just didn't caused that hype and excitement of a new OS version, since they had been using many of the new features for over 5 months, and some of the reviews I read were a clear indication of that.

It also gave the change for Google and other competitors to "get inspired" with some of the features of Mango and include them in their own OS.

Actually, these are the main reasons why Apollo has been so closely kept under wraps, which is unusual for Microsoft.

This is the biggie.... Microsoft has been pointing to Windows 8 for their PC's, WP8 for their Phones, and launching their tablet line for what seems like since the Earth cooled and the dinosaurs died. Nokia has done a good job pumping up things with the 900, but if WP is going to gain traction, this is it. June 20th needs to be the SHOW!!

I AM ALLLLLL GEEKED OUT!!!!

Mango was shown off at MWC last year. I'd be extremely annoyed if Microsoft provided a full preview of Apollo on June 20, I think it would be tremendous to surprise people with Windows Phone 8 around the launch of all these new Xbox services and Windows 8 in October.

Announce the platform, devices launch within a month. Keep all the hype from the announcement going into the release of the phones, get the buzzwords on people's lips. In 2012, we have short attention spans. If Apollo is unveiled in June, people will be disinterested and looking at Jelly Bean / iOS 6 by October.

lol what features did android or ios supposedly "borrorw"??

About the bias, I don't see it on engadget, good android models and and apple phones frequently get good scores. Not liking something genuinely doesn't make it bias (only looks that way to the biased themselves)

I'm beginning to become more and more convinced that Microsoft's ploy to use Windows 8 to sell Windows Phone will work.

There seems to be tons of excitement over Windows 8 by OEMs at Computex and new desktops/laptops appear to be mostly retrofitted with touchscreens to take advantage of the full range of Windows 8 features. (Right now, consumer reviews of Windows 8 are largely only negative because the consumer can't use the touch features. Well most consumers don't upgrade the OS on their computers, anyways. Whenever a new OS is released, they purchase a new one. )

I predict that the major Windows facelift will cause Windows 8 to be quite successful and bring users to Windows Phone 8 as it more closely resembles desktop Windows. Apple might also be caught scrambling. TBH, fitting touchscreens into everything is something I thought Apple would do first.
