Exploding batteries?

re:

No, but I am sure it has happened before since all lithium batteries come with some risk.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 was a one-time combination of not enough tolerances in the design and a defective battery from one of the vendors that, pardon the pun, blew up in spectacular fashion to become well-known.

Otherwise, it doesn't appear that any Lumia phone (and almost any other phone like the iPhone, Galaxy S7, HTC 10, BlackBerry Classic...) at this time is particularly predisposed to catastrophic battery failure at a higher-than-average rate.

There are isolated instances of an iPhone combusting, or the odd other phone, but those stories are relatively uncommon and given there are less Lumia's on the planet than iPhone's it could also be scale factoring in.

As posted above, it was just the Note 7 (as well as other occasional galaxies) and a few iPhones that have made news about battery explosions recently. Still, all batteries can definitely explode when put under enough pressure.
