Anyone get the extended warranty for the L950XL?
I'm considering it as I dont want to add a case, which is kinda lame ...

However, I cant seem to find the MS Complete for the phone.

I added it in the store as I bought the phone. It did push up the price to "Wait, why am I not getting an iPhone again?" levels. Ouch! $99 for MS Complete. But I'm going caseless and I have broken one too many phones in the past.

The only way I found to purchase the Complete Plan for my 950xl was to go to the nearest MS store. It was $99 for two years. First time I've ever bought a protection plan because I never keep a phone for longer than 6 months. I like the 950xl enough to have made this investment.

Why you can't buy it as an accessory on the MS site, I haven't a clue. Makes no sense to me.

The prevailing theme is that you can only get Complete at physical stores. If you purchase your phone online you can take it in to the store to buy Complete separately. They'll check your device out before issuing it.

I got Complete yesterday when I purchased my 950XL. It was $99, which is cheaper than any of the carrier's insurance/upgrade options at $10/mo. Hoping I never have to use it, but I'm glad I have it if I do.

I had to go to the Microsoft Store to add the $99 warranty as well. So weird that there wasn't an option to add it when I pre-ordered it or anytime after.

Has anybody shopped around for other plans?
Square Trade, etc..
What are the deductibles, and gotya?

Well, I guess a trip to the MS store is in order. Does the $99 cover drops?
I believe so. It extends the manufacturer warranty to two years for natural stuff, and allows for a full replacement for a $49 deductable. I believe the replacement is only good once, though. So if you snap your phone in half twice you're out of luck.

I too got it in store because I want to go caseless. They said it covers "accidents". Maybe drops and spills?

Yeah, it's similar to the Surface Pro Complete warranty. It is $99, and you can replace it for accidental coverage up to two times withing the two year period with a $49 deductible for each one. They told me that I have to go back to the store for the replacement though.

You can only get it at a physical store. For some bizarre reason, you can't add it to an on-line phone order. So... to avoid fraud, you can only buy it in the store and only after they inspect the phone to make sure it doesn't already need replacing.

I just saw that Microsoft changed the deductible for plans purchased on or after November 26th. The deductible for a Lumia 950 or 950XL purchased after November 25th is now $99.

I'm glad I picked my 950XL up on the 25th and bought Complete then. If Microsoft isn't making a point of telling people who bought Complete on or after Thanksgiving about the sudden doubling of the deductible, they are slime.

OK, that's annoying. They are really trying all they can to screw up this launch. So now the cost of one broken phone is $200. I know I just paid $650 plus $100 for complete, so an extra $50 penalty shouldn't matter much, but given all the bugs I'm irrationally p!ssed off by this. At least honor the $49 deductible pricing for users that suffered through the endless WP10 bugs until the next major OS update. I mean COME ON!

(I'll come back later to un-rant this reply)

For comparison, I could get a 64GB iPhone 6s with AppleCare (also $99 deductible) and tax for $935 (no dual sim, no SD card). I paid $730 after tax for the 32GB 950XL with Complete, same $99 deductible. Gee, how much do I really dislike iOS..?

How you going to un-rant my quote?

It's almost like there is no leadership and people are making screwball calls. This is not an isolated thing. And this is actually worse than the way they handled the roll back of "free" One-Drive space. I have no problem if they want to have a $5,000 deductible or not giving ANY free One Drive space. It's not what they are doing; its how they are doing it.

I am on the fence about keeping my 950XL and this makes me lean even more toward returning it because this seems like intentional deception. I lucked out and got the lower deductible but feel like Microsoft is just looking for ways to take advantage.

I had read the terms the day before I got my 950XL and decided I'd get Complete. That was based on a $49 deductible. The very next morning I get the call saying I can pick up my pre-order. If I hadn't gone down that very day (the day before Thanksgiving), I would have been tricked. And I base that on the fact that many forum members did get their 950s in the last 6 days and some of those mentioned Complete, but not a one of them mentioned the doubling of the deductible. That tells me Microsoft is saying the same thing to those customers as they did to me: "Hey, you want to add Microsoft Complete for $99?" and they are NOT adding "BTW, the deductible just doubled."

That's exactly how it happened, and exactly why I'm also pretty cranky right now. Again, for $50 extra (or $100 if I manage two break two..) it shouldn't really matter, but the emotional response is that I'm going out on freaking Black Friday to get a beta phone, and get rewarded with a larger deductible for being 'a day late'. That's just upsetting.

Get it... At the end of the the 2 years smash it and cover it in water... Ask for a new one and sell it... Buy a Surface Phone lol

The documentation they showed me at the store is a $99 deductible now for accidental damage, and only one time over 2 years, that plus the additional 1 year warranty. For the amount I have invested in my new phone, I figure the $99 for the extra year warranty was worth it. I have never damaged a phone yet, but if I do with this one, at least I can get a new one for $99 now.I hope I never need it, but the phone is the most I have ever spent on a phone, so I want that piece of mind.

I just went to the store to check on getting complete converge and they told me that even though I bought it before the price increase, its they are still going to put me on the new plan.

So now the question is this:
So how much total per replacement? is it just $99?

If I understand correctly what matters is the date when you buy Complete. If you got that after Nov 25, you're in Complete V3. Yes it's $99 for the one allowed accidental damage incident. Warranty is extended to two years. More discussion here and in the Windows Central Article.
