Facebook app & me hub notification problem

Ok. Now in gonna go in a little rant but I feel like its necessary.

I've been using WP for a while now, since wp7.5 my complaint is I've only gotten Facebook notification to work (using the app) one time.
Now I have WP8 last time I got a notification for Facebook was on my wp7.5 device before I updated to 7.8
This is really frustrating. It appears to me that most of the apps that rely on notification on WP tend not to work properly.
I was wondering if it is an OS thing or bad app design?

I think it's a mix of both. The Facebook app is abysmal compared to that of Android and iOS. Good for me though, as it's made me to almost completely give up Facebook - and that's a welcome development.
