Facebook messages and text messages - how to separate?

my FB messages have started appearing in my text messages part, it's extremely annoying and difficult to tell who FB'd me and who texted, and if I'm FBing or texting!

I didn't set this up, i think it happened after the last update. How do i change it??? I don't want FB messages in my text messages!!

Hey - if you go into your message hub, hit settings you should see an option to switch facebook messenger chat off and on.

You could also consider upgrading to the developer WP8.1 OS as this Facebook-in-chat functionality has been completely stripped out

thanks! how do i check which OS i'm running? Can I go to 8.1 on the 800? I'm just waiting for the contract on this one to run out so I can upgrade

Unfortunately, Windows Phone 7/7.5/7.8 handsets including the Lumia 800 are not upgradable to 8.0/8.1.
Windows Phone 8.0/8.1 has an official Facebook Messenger app.

Worst part is we get double notifications (one from the FB app, and one from FB messenger)

Some others have said the same but mine works as expected if I uncheck "Message" from the Notifications settings in the FB app. I only get Message notifications from the messenger this way.
