Facebook messenger app using 10% battery life per hour

Anyone having the app kill your battery and heat up you 1520?

I have an Icon, but both Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp use about 13% per hour if I chat constantly for that hour. Mind you, the screen is on most of the time, so it's kinda expected but i'm not sure if it should be so much drainage.

If you put it in standby does it do the same my 1520 goes from up to 5 days down to 8 hours due to this
