That reminded me of these :)

Used to come in a plastic bag from the drugstore for 5 cents.

My favorites were the WW2 models, especially the ones with the plastic propellers attached. The ones I was used to werre made out of styrofoam, not wood...but man, they flew pretty well...

My favorites were the WW2 models,
I tried and failed to find a picture of the ones we used to actually get.

I noticed they sell for about $2.99 now at the hobby place I frequent.

Even the Estes Rocket kits have skyrocketed in price (pun intended)
The engine cartridges for those things are now over the counter because they're explosives.
Heck I used to buy that stuff right off the hanger at Walgreens :(

Since toys came up...
ErectorSet.jpg

I adored my Erector set.
Kept me busy for hours.

I honestly believe having a few toy sets like these drove my fascination with building, fabricating and DIY.

I don't have the best memories from my childhood so I went searching to see what I remember that I enjoyed.

My favourite times were riding my bike to places. I liked to go to new areas and see new things. I've always been a bit of a wonderer.

I liked riding to High Park (a big park in Toronto) which took about 15mins to get to by bike. Then riding through the park on dirt trails and other parts.

As I got older I used to enjoy my bike rides along Lake Ontario, about a 40km return journey on days when I had time. Yeah I used to be in shape. :p

Then I used to like watching the sunset and the colours reflecting on the lake and on certain days the waves crashing on the rocks. Many people don't realise how large the Great Lakes are and how powerful they can be.

I've always enjoyed living near water and miss it when I don't.

As for other things I liked.

Yes I had Lego. Yes I liked the ice cream truck. Yes I played several different sports with friends which could be good some times.

Riding in the combine with my grandad during wheat harvest circa 1970. He had a little pad custom made for me to lay upon right behind his seat in the cab. We'd talk for hours on end, sun up to sundown, then go back to the house and get cleaned up while grandma laid out a huge meal every night for the whole harvest crew. Fried potatoes were always on the menu.

Grandad passed away in 1975 at age 56. That seems awfully young now, as I'm getting close to that myself. I still get a little misty smelling wheat straw, diesel smoke, or Camel cigarettes.

I rode a horse as a kid once on a beach trip. Pretty cool experience, although it felt weird being so high up on an animal.

One childhood memory I had when I was in second grade( i think i was 8 years old it was 2001) my mom woke my sisters and i becuse it was snowing ( it doesn't snow in the valley) we didn't believe her ar first but she turned on the Tv and said look snow. I remember running down the hall and opining the door and i saw the grass and everything white. This was my time seeing and touching snow btw. I got dresses quickly and came back outside to play in the snow before leaving for school. I was so excited that i forgot to eat breakfast. I remember getting to school and kids having snowball fights and making snowman, and snow angels. One of my best memories I've had
