I am one of the beta tester of your original app - Video player clasic. I use your app as the default vid player. VLC may not be equally good in performance at its early stage so you have a good chance to include many features to your public release to compete with vlc. I think you shouldn't give it up

10 videos is not a problem (e.g. I tested it with 40 videos in one folder).
I think there is a problem with certain video file.
Could you run a small test: move files one by one to another folder and try to open this folder with video explorer?
When it crash, it means that last file you moved is the problem. Could you find this file and send it to me for testing?
PS. Guys, I've finally had progress in MKV support. My dev build now has full MKV support, but it needs a lot of work and there are news about upcoming VLC release, so I really don't know, should I continue working on Video Explorer or just sit and wait for VLC

By all means keep going forward. VLC beta process has been halted thanks to an outdated Microsoft Store Certification Kit. The devs have reached out to Microsoft but the kind of incompetence Joe Belfiore and his team is known for, I doubt the issue will be fixed any soon.
So please go ahead. The more apps the better.

Some news about upcoming update:
- mkv would work fast and smooth
- dual audio would work in mkv, mp4, wmv
- I haven't done lock screen feature yet
- when playing mkv and dual audio mp4/wmv there is no gesture support for position, volume and brightness gestures at the moment.
But I'll fix it later.
- some UI changes. Controls would become smaller and it would be light buttons on dark semi-transparent background.
I'll try to finish this update today or tomorrow and upload it to marketplace.

I think Tuesday evening. I've sent update for certification last night and usually it takes a couple of days to pass certification of you send app at Sunday or Saturday

Update is ready!
Interface changes, added support for dual-audio (only in MP4, WMV, MKV), better MKV support (there are still some problems with MKV files generated with Xvid4PSP software and some versions of mkvtoolnix).
Don't forget to look at some new things in settings.

When does it crash? On starting app or on starting video playback?
If it's crashing on starting app, just uninstall it and install again.
If it's crashing on video file, that was successfully played on previous version try to turn off and turn on your phone.

I'm not 100% sure, but it seems that I've finished fixing bugs.
I've just sent new version for certification, I hope it would be published at Monday or Tuesday.
Some new features:
- improved MKV support. Now more MKV files would be supported.
- hiding on-screen navigation buttons (back, start, search) for new phones like Lumia x3x (but this feature has some limitations: it can be used ONLY with Pro Codec Pack, only with MKV, WMV, MP4 files, and this feature is incompatible with subtitles, zooming, stretching and gesture controls).
So, you'll be able to choose what do you want more.

Out of all, this is easy to use.
