Today I have experienced freezes on the sp4 a couple of times whilst browsing in Edge. The screen stays on but nothing is responsive, even the volume buttons. I had to hard reboot by holding the power button.

Is this a known issue and is there any workaround?

Has happened to me as well. and only in edge.

What works for me his pressing the power button as if you were locking the device. It takes you back to the home screen an then you unlock the device.

Same problem, only in edge. Mostly while on FB. Power button helps, but takes some time to get back..

Does this sound like a hardware issue or a software issue? When it happens for me, the power button doesn't help (i.e. toggling standby). Only a hard reboot brings it back

I wonder if this issue is specific to i7. It looks like all i7 models were removed from sale

I have this. But not in a surface tablet

I bought one just a week or so ago, and got a replacement for it just a few days ago. Why do you think they are no longer on sale?

wow froze up while I was writing this message! sometimes when it recovers it tells me its the graphic driver....

Happened to me like 4 times this week. Also while watching NBA league pass on Edge, after around 5 minutes the surface goes to sleep mode. Is this normal?

I was able to reduce the number of issues by setting "Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering" to checked under internet options > advanced tab.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but those are the settings for Internet Explorer only not Edge?

Same here while on Edge. Has happened many times. Hate that I paid a premium price for a buggy product. It reminds me of the early days of android on tablets.

This seems to have potentially fixed the issue. Can't be sure as it's a bit intermittent. Thanks for the info!
