Funny fact is that Microsoft actually developed Android launcher that you can install from Google Play that looks nothing like Metro UI. It is just same generic Android launcher with icons. IMHO I would really appreciate if Microsoft will bring Metro UI to Android. Then we are talking :)

Do users actually want Live Tiles? I understand that many Windows phone users liked them, but they didn't take off. Personally, I used WP for awhile and liked some things about it, but the UI was a negative in my opinion.

I suspect Live Tiles aren't a draw to everyone like the fans seem to think they would be. Microsoft might have decided that a WP UI on their launcher would have a negative affect on its acceptance by Android users.

Are you kidding? They didn't take off? Maybe for YOU, but this is one of the biggest strengths for WM is the live tiles... Maybe you're too much in droid land to not see the benefits... And no even droid users like live tiles, it's superior in every way which is why they have widgets to mimic it or why there's an app to emulate it... There is ABSOLUTELY no benefits to showing a number sign to show you have an email

Maybe for YOU

Turn this around. Maybe YOU like Live Tiles, but do others? If they were so popular, wouldn't iOS and Android have them by now?

This is an opinion!

Either way, I don't know. I don't know whether or not the general public would like them. Why didn't the Start Screen full of Live Tiles take off on Windows desktop? Microsoft tried it with Windows 8 & 8.1, but retracted with Windows 10. Why?

yes they DO have them, as an "APP" or widget which is what I said in my post before

because some people couldn't learn how to use windows 8

I love live titles but I agree it is a matter of preference. I personally do not like Android icon based launchers because they are so dull IMHO and not as usable as metro style launcher on the phone.
