Another way to look at it, although I would never compare a communications device to Jesus Christ, it that if the Lumia 900 is released on the 8th, it could be said that it is signifying Nokia's marketshare in North America rising from the grave. If they actually publicly said this though, it would piss quite a few people off, myself included. I am a huge Windows Phone fan, but that would be pushing it too far.
I doubt that's their angle or reasoning. My guess is they still didn't have all FCC approval yet, but also wanted to let the new iPad hysteria simmer down before release, so that was the reason for the pushback.
The weekend of the 8th makes a lot of sense as it is a nice distance from the release of the iPad, and would be a good time to go big with adverts. Although I do also think they may release it on the 9th instead of the 8th in a conscious move to NOT offend those who celebrate Easter.
