What has been so hard for Microsoft to bring frosted glass effect to the action centre and making it look attractive for first timers who want to try out windows 10 mobile

You need to upvote for this in the Feedback app. I guess there might be other considerations for this feature, it could be that it's been tested but lead to readability issues in seeing the notifications in front of a transparent background. I've found that notifications can be pretty hard to read against a black background in sunlight, transparency would make that even more difficult.

It could be that the development team are busy doing more important things as well.

Maybe it doesn't interest them because it's not that important. I know I certainly don't care if they add it.

Well I care, and I also want it. I think they've seen it, it's been in the feedback app for quite a long time, and I really don't understand why they haven't implemented it yet. Especially since it's present on the THRESHOLD (10586) build of Windows 10 for PCs. Like.. come on!

I was thinking about this these days, maybe the effect is too demanding to render ? The vast majority of windows phones consists of devices with low end gpus, i suppose it would be hard to optimize for all of them, and if microsoft decided to put it only in the few phones with enough power, a lot of people would be pissed.

It's not any more demanding than the live tiles. I don't think that's the reason.

Maybe it simply doesn't fit with the design language that they're aiming for. Design is an art. If the artist chooses to go a different direction with their piece of art, that's their prerogative.

No frosted glass and transparency please - these are Windows 7 style. Windows 10 is flat, solid, tablet like style.

I think the design language they're after now is to take things from iOS and Android and throw them together. Circle profile pictures, wireframe icons, rounded toggles. Frosted glass? Sure, why not?

The underlying theme of Windows 10 and Win10Mobile is flat and minimalistic. Adding graphical features sure would be nice if we can toggle it off/on. But then it becomes pretty bloated and would run like crap, much like Windows Vista. *shudders*

Was referring to the notification shade, which is already semi transparent on Windows 10. The rest of the ui is fine.

Microsoft should focus on continuum for the anniversary update. The reason being is they have convinced OEMs like HP, alcatel, coship and many others on the prospect of continuum. But if it is released in the current state it will just give it a bad name. It NEEDS multi window snap. It NEEDS extensions for Edge especially ad blocker. It NEEDS to speed up edge and get the browser functioning properly. The scaling needs to be done properly. And possibly move the action center to be more like the Desktop. Even small things like the back button. When I'm in the store for example or an app I go to the top to find the back button because that's what I'm used to on the Desktop. But in continuum I have to go to the bottom near the start button to hit back.

Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's Lumia 950xl

Regardless of whether or not you attribute the design of Windows 10 Mobile to other OS's or not, it's still the artists call. So if they don't think that a frosted glass notification center fits with their picture, they won't apply it.

There's no functional reason for it. It's simply cosmetic.
