Same problem on my HTC 8S - got the update for 8.10.12400.899 - but after that installed and rebooted, the 'check for updates' says my phone is up to date.

I think Cortana's tied to the phone's region setting - setting the region to US but keeping the UK speech setting would produce the same result - hence why we had to change all of that over to try her over here initially.

i think all of you UK guys, need to wait, an article regarding the Cortana for UK will come for sure :)

i'm running 8.1 on my 1520. there were many issues to deal with after updating to 8.1 and a hard reset and set up as a new device to get the phone to operate as it should. will there be a need to do the same after this GDR1 update?

No, Cortana is present in the UK with the new updates. She's definitely there. Changing the speech settings to something other than UK renders her useless until you change it back. I was just testing to see if changing speech to US would do something useful and let us have the correct voice - which sadly, it doesn't.

What the heck? The update started, everything was going great, it tells me it's done, it installs apps and... nothing... I'm still at 8.10.12400.899

But it says my phone is up to date!

Why can't I have GDR1? The dev app is enabled and I am a dev... :(
