Get a Lumia 735 now?

Hi there,

After the introduction of the 950, 950XL and 550, Windows Phone has caught my attention again and since I need a new back-up phone anyway, I'd like some advise as to which one to get. My main phone unfortunately can't be WP so my second phone needs to be on a budget.

Initially I thought I would get the 550 with what seems to be an ideal 4.7" screen size but after doing some research I found the Nokia Lumia 735 and it has my preference. I love the design a lot more over the 550, I love the idea of owning a Nokia and the battery seems to be quite a bit better. There's also wireless charging. It does come at a cost. ?129 vs ?190, I need to wait another ~45 days for the 550 to come out though.

As I'm still thinking about all of this I thought I'd ask for any comments that could perhaps assist me. Thanks in advance.

the 735 is a fine phone and I have no issues with recommending it over the 550 - and probably would have little complaints using it as my daily driver (outside of app complaints) I also recommend checking out the 640 also.

I agree with xandros. I would say if you have time, why not wait? The 735 doesn't have glance but the 550 does. Would you use wireless charging though?

I have the 640 and I think it's a pretty good device. In a way, I think it is better than the 550 but not better than the 735. Opinions are subjective, though.

735 or even 640 over the 550. 550 doescome with w10 out of box, but that may not mean much if any at all. 735 have better cpu, vetter gpu, better battery, much better cameras, motion data sensor and so on.

Thanks for the replies so far. I didn't know the 735 didn't have glance. That's unfortunate but the pros still out-way the cons for me. Also, apparently the double tap to wake feature is present on the 735 so that's good. I appreciate the 640 recommendation but I'm afraid 5 inches is too big to be comfortable for me. The design is also something that doesn't speak to me at all. Can anyone confirm the 735 has double tap to wake? I can't find a reliable source.

P.S. I would use the wireless charging feature, yes. And the reason for not wanting to wait is that many 735's are already sold out and the price jumps up quite a bit when switching to a different store. That €190,00 is from one particular retailer.

Yes, there is double tapto wake.

I purchased the 735. Ended up paying a bit more so that the phone could get delivered while I'm home this week but oh well.
I'm sure I'll enjoy it :) Thanks for all the help.

Sorry I'm late to the thread but I think you'll be happy with the 735. I'm using a Verizon version of the phone and have been very pleased with it so far. I think it's a good deal for what it costs. Good luck.
