Another case for glance vs lockscreen is that phones like the 925 & 1020 have OLED screens so there's a power benefit of having notifications on the glance screen vs the lockscreen. Even for the 920 that doesn't have OLED it's still a dimmed screen vs the 'full' brightness lockscreen.

In saying that I'd like SMS and phone call notifications but I'm not worried about email, Facebook, Skype, etc. etc. I realise some people rely more heavily on the web based services than calls and sms so that wouldn't work for everyone but I think it would assist a lot of people.

Yeah . That's the point . We are not saying glance screen is bad . Its a great leap forward initiated by Nokia.
What i feel is windows phone OS can make this big and take this technology to its peak if they work for it in the next updates.
I am proud of the fact that i can hover my hands over the phone today and show my friends what lumia does.
But well, as you guys have said , it has its own limitations and currently OS wont be supporting many things that we are asking for here.
So lets say, Nokia Showed it with glance, Let microsoft flourish it in the next GDR.
