Gmail Attachments not being received.

Today I was sent an email with some important attachments to my Gmail account which of course is on my windows phone. I have a Nokia Lumia 920. I received the email but no attachments. I asked the sender if they were sure they attached them to the email. They were certain they did. When I got home I checked my email on my computer and sure enough they did. I forwarded the email to my Gmail account with attachments to my phone again and once again I received the email but no attachments. So I forwarded the email to my Hotmail account and the email and attachments appeared on my phone. I checked settings and don't see any options for allowing attachments in my Gmail account. Is this a know issue? Ive been searching on the internet but have had no luck. Please advise.
