Gmail - can read but cannot respond or send?

Gmail - can read but cannot respond or send

Using a Lumia 930 updated to W10 a while ago. Gmail used to work.
Now I can receive email and open them. I cannot reply or send.

The buttons are greyed out. The attachment button is not greyed out.

I have tried rebooting

Suggestions?

Did you try factory reset?

Have you tried deleting and re-adding the Gmail account?

Definitely try this first before the factory reset.
