Thoughts on replacing a Pro 6 i7 with a Go 2 m3?

I have to walk around a lot in the facility where I work and use the machine from a lot of different rooms, usually on battery power.

The Pro 6 i7 works, but frankly it is much less convenient than an iPad.

I use a mission specific app with Citrix Workspace.

If size and weight are your main concerns, then the Go 2 is probably worth it. I’m not paying any attention to benchmarks for comparison, just size. I went from a 12” ultraportable to a 13” ultraportable to a Surface Pro 3 to a Surface 3 to a Surface Go. For me, that 10-11” screen size is just about perfect. It’s large enough to see but the footprint isn’t big so it fits on the camper dinette, the projection kiosk on campus, my computer deskt (in front of my desktop screens) at home.

I really like the footprint and form factor of the iPad Pro 11 in the Apple keyboard folio. However, it won’t run the statistical software I teach and use so I use it for web surfing, email, my main daily typing stuff, but when I need to do work, the iPad isn’t it.

if real life performance difference is not an issue then it's worth it for portability. you still get full surface expierince in form of kickstand, pen support, type cover, overall build quality etc.

Assuming the app you're using via Citrix is the primary/only thing you use it for, then "go" (see what I did there ) for it. The local device requirements for Citrix are minimal so the extra horsepower of the Pro won't be missed and the Go 2 will be a better tablet. Only thing that would give me pause based on your use case is the battery life. It's 40% smaller, not sure how that translates, but it's worth looking into a little more, especially since the charger delivers 45% less power so it will probably charge slower.
