I've recently installed Google earth on my Pro 3 for GIS at university, and I've noticed that the battery life has significantly decreased, within 2 hours of use my battery has dropped from 100% (fully charged) down to 56% is this common with Google Earth and is there any way to better my battery consumption?

-Note: I haven't installed anything after I installed Google earth and I don't use Google Chrome either-

Not only does Google Earth download a lot of data while using it (depending on your settings) but it also is a processor-intensive program for the graphics, overlays and other effects. Data downloading and processor usage are both known to use a lot of power, add to that having the screen turned on while using it.

The combination of these three is mostly likely the cause for the observed drop in battery life with your device.

Thanks gpobernado!
I was wondering why my battery was draining so fast

No problem, you're welcome, BGrewer

Try tinkering around with the settings of Google Earth, limiting the data it downloads and some of the layers and 3D effects being rendered. That should improve the battery life a bit.
