Google gets the boot in some GDR2 phones

On my AT&T HTC 8x GDR2, there is simply no way to change search provider at all. It does not exist.

Verizon just allowed 928 owners to use google in GDR2, so I wouldn't read anything into it

There was never an option for Google on my T-mobile 8X however such option did exist on my HD7.

This wasn't there IIRC on my 928 before the update.

It should also be reiterated this is within the browser, not the dedicated search button.

I'm an Indian and I still have Google option after GDR2 update,I think its a bug on some phones

Also 822 had this from the get go. This setting is under the internet explorer advanced settings.

Its carrier controlled. On unbranded / dev roms it is available, and on all other roms the carrier decides

You might want to look at that again, my ATIV S doesn't even have the option to change search providers and that is an unbranded, unlocked device!!!
