Got the free year of XBOX Music but code won't work

I bought the Surface on launch day and got a gift card for a free year of XBOX music but I just got my Windows Phone and tried to activate it today, but the Redemption code isn't recognized. Anyone know how to get this corrected?

What to do if XBOX Music code can't be redeemed?

It won't recognize the code on my card. I had a free year of XBOX Music but it won't recognize the redemption code.
