I am getting the same errors. c1900101-40017. So frustrating and a big waste of time. I've also tried unplugging all USB peripherals and making sure all drivers are updated and nothing, but the c1900101-40017 error show up.

Exact same error. Acer 4745G upgrading from Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit.
After 73% the setup would reboot, that's the point when setup failed and rolled back to Windows 8.1.

  • 1st attempt: Uninstall avast antivirus, no avail
  • 2nd attempt: Updated ATI radeon 5470 driver to 15.20, no avail
  • 3rd attempt: There are some driver updates in windows update, didn't realise those because they are classified as optional. Let's see
  • 4th attempt: Currently the laptop is locked to ATI graphics due to Windows 8.1 cannot use the switchable graphics. Will try to re-enable switchable graphics in BIOS to unlock the intel graphics. Let's see
  • 5th attempt: Will try to install from the downloaded ISO. Hopefully it will accept win 8.1 key as many people reported activation refused. If this fails as well I would give up.

I got that error as well. if you look at the last line, it will tell you what driver is causing the error. Find out what that driver is associate to and remove that driver. Mine was for my Lenovo's built in wifi driver (rtwlan_13.sys). I removed the device in device manager and was able to get thru the setup in no time.

Im not tech savvy and have no idea what any of this means,i keep trying but no luck, tbh i might take it to a tech specialist to install it since theirs an error and doesnt removing driver harm your computer??

How do I turn off my anti virus and stuff that may be the issue?

I found some updates that I didn't install should I do them, would that be the issue

They are not crucial updates though?

Same issue on my Dell Inspiron 17 laptop. I too am on my 5th try and still no luck. Once I get to the configuration stage it goes to a black screen. The alternative option link doesn't work either. Antivirus is off. All external drives and usb(s) are unplugged. Wtf Microsoft!!

This should go without hitch and it hasnt and Microsoft hasn't even told us what these codes mean, I talked to the people where I bought my computer and I'm not paying ?35 for a windows 10 setup when its free and my computer should do this without a problem since I bought it I November 2014 not even a year yet

right after it blue screen, it will spit out the driver that's causing the failure in at the last line. you might want to take a screenshot of it, if you aren't tech savvy. afterward, use bing/google to find out what that driver/software is and then uninstall it.

hth.

right after it blue screen, it will spit out the driver that's causing the failure in at the last line.

Last line of what? My install isn't bluescreening; it gets up to 75% (it finishes installing drivers) and then reboots, then immediately tells me "Preparing Automatic Repair" and then "Diagnosing your PC". It gives me a few options; the only useful one is a DOS prompt which lets me poke around the system, but I haven't found anything helpful. Once I exit the DOS prompt it rolls back my system to Windows 8.1. When 8.1 boots up, it tells me the error was 0xC1900101 - 0x40017.

I would love to find a log that tells me exactly what driver it's failing on. Where do you see this, exactly?

hi,
i got the same error which is mentioned in topic. drivers are installing, in some point it appears black screen. I don't see any notifications, or cursor just black screen nothing more. First thought of mine was that may be something like screen saver or just my LCD turned off but i tried to press buttons on my keypad, click on mouse and it don;t work at all, after that I left update for an around hour, thought that may be graphics drivers are currently installed (or updated to version compatible with W10), after that time i still got nothing more than black screen. So I turned my PC off, after using Power button to get turned on it, my PC was rebooted few times showing me W10 logo and after that it restored my previous system (W7 - Home). In WindowsUpdate appears an message about error c1900101-40017. After reading that topic i opened the setuperr.log file and found this:

2015-08-09 15:20:43, Error [0x08085f] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext: LoadLibraryExW(C:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\ReplacementManifests\Microsoft-Windows-RasServer-MigPlugin\RasMigPlugin.dll, LOAD_WITH_ALTERED_SEARCH_PATH) failed gle=0x7f.[gle=0x0000007f]
2015-08-09 15:20:43, Error [0x080863] MIG MigHost: CMigPluginSurrogate::COMGenericThreadingHostThreadProc: LoadAndRegisterServerInThreadContext() failed hr=0x8007007f.[gle=0x0000007f]

But still i have no idea which driver (if it is drivers fault) is causing this. i will appreciate all try help ;)

BTW. I'm trying to upgrade my system on Packard Bell (All In One) OneTwo L5871.

Hi there

Did you manage to resolve this at all?

I have an Acer Inspire 7600U and am not tech savvy at all and I have tried 5-6 times and get the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated.
